THE INGREDIENTS LIST:
FOR THE CASSEROLE, YOU’LL NEED:
1.5 lbs.Of ribeye steak, thinly sliced.
2 large bell peppers – thinly sliced.
1 large onion, thinly sliced.
2 cloves of garlic, minced.
2 Tbsp.Of olive oil.
1 Tsp.Of Worcestershire sauce.
Salt and black pepper to taste.
8-oz.Of provolone / American cheese, shredded or sliced.
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish).
FOR THE MARINADE, I USED:
¼ Cup.Of soy sauce.
2 Tbsp.Of Worcestershire sauce.
2 Tbsp.Of olive oil.
1 Tbsp.Of Dijon mustard.
1 Tsp.Of minced garlic.
½ Tsp.Of black pepper.
PREPARATION:
1st Step
To make the marinade, put all the ingredients in a basin and whisk them together. Incorporate the ribeye steak that has been thinly cut into the marinade. Put the bowl in the fridge for at least half an hour, preferably overnight, covered with plastic wrap.
2nd Step
Have a 375F (190C) oven ready. In the meanwhile, bring a large frying pan or skillet to medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil.
3rd Step
Slice some onions and cut some garlic, then sauté them till they soften and release their aroma. Stir in the sliced bell peppers and heat until they are soft and beginning to caramelize. The onions and peppers should be removed from the pan and placed in a separate bowl.
4th Step
Over medium heat, warm the last tablespoon of olive oil in the same pan. Take the steak out of the marinade and set it on a plate to drain.
5th Step
Throw the steak in the pan and let it brown and cook to your preferred doneness over a few minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste before serving the meat. Put the skillet away from the heat.
6th Step
Spread half of the sautéed onions and peppers in the bottom of a greased baking dish. After the onions and peppers have cooked, layer the meat on top.
7th Step
Sprinkle the steak with the leftover onions and peppers from the sauté. Top the casserole with the provolone or American cheese, either shredded or sliced.
8th Step
In a preheated oven, bake the casserole dish for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling.
9th Step
Carefully broil the casserole for a further 2 to 3 minutes to get a golden brown crust on the cheese, then take it out of the oven and allow it cool for a few minutes.
