INGREDIENTS NEEDED:

FOR MAKING THE CAKE:

2 Cups.Of all-purpose flour. 

1½ Cups.Of granulated sugar.

1 Tsp.Of baking powder.

1 Tsp.Of baking soda.

1 Tsp.Of ground cinnamon.

½ Tsp.Of ground nutmeg.

½ Tsp.Of ground ginger.

¼ Tsp.Of ground cloves.

½ Tsp.Of salt.

1 ½ Cups.Of canned pumpkin puree.

½ Cup.Of vegetable oil.

½ Cup.Of unsweetened applesauce.

3 large eggs.

1 Tsp.Of vanilla extract.

FOR MAKING THE CREAM CHEESE FROSTING:

8-oz.Of softened cream cheese.

½ Cup.Of unsalted butter, softened.

4 Cups.Of powdered sugar.

1 Tsp.Of vanilla extract.

Chopped walnuts or pecans, FOR GARNISH.  

Ground cinnamon, FOR GARNISH.

PREPARATION:

1st Step 

Make sure your oven is preheated at 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). Prepare a 9-inch round cake pan by greasing and flouring it, or lining it with parchment paper.

2nd Step 

Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves), and salt in a large mixing basin until well combined. Mix the dry ingredients well.

3rd Step 

Put the pumpkin puree, oil, applesauce, eggs, and vanilla in a separate dish and mix well. Blend the liquids until they are well distributed.

4th Step 

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Overmixing might cause a thick cake, so be cautious. Then, using a spatula, spread the batter evenly over the surface of the cake pan.

RECIPE NOTES:

You may use roasted and pureed fresh pumpkin for canned pumpkin puree.

You may keep leftovers in the fridge for up to five days if you put them in an airtight container.
