Here's a step-by-step guide to preparing a mouthwatering Buttermilk Pie:

THE INGREDIENTS LIST:

FOR THE CRUST:

1 ¼ Cups.Of all-purpose flour.

½ Tsp.Of salt.

½ Cup.Of unsalted butter, cold and cubed.

2-3 Tbsp.Of ice water.

FOR THE FILLING:

1 ½ Cups.Of granulated sugar.

3 Tbsp.Of all-purpose flour.

¼ Tsp.Of salt.

3 large eggs.

1 Cup.Of buttermilk.

½ Cup.Of unsalted butter, melted.

1 Tbsp.Of vanilla extract.

Zest of one lemon (optional).

PREPARATION:

1st Step:

Prepare your oven by preheating it to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).

2nd Step:

To begin, you will need to make the crust. Flour and salt should be mixed together in a bowl before using. You may use a pastry cutter or just your fingers to cut the cold, cubed butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. The butter should be cold before you start.

3rd Step:

Mix while adding the cold water in a slow and steady stream, one spoonful at a time, until the dough begins to come together. Take care not to overmix the ingredients. Make a ball out of the dough, cover it in plastic wrap, and place it in the refrigerator for approximately a quarter of an hour.

4th Step:

On a surface dusted with flour, spread out the cold dough into a circle that is just slightly bigger than the pie dish you will be using. Transfer the dough to the baking dish with caution, then push it evenly into the bottom and up the edges. Remove any extra dough that is hanging over the sides of the dish.

5th Step:

For the filling, pull out a big mixing bowl and whisk the sugar, flour, and salt together until they are well incorporated.

6th Step :

In a separate bowl, combine the eggs one at a time with the dry ingredients, stirring well after each addition. After that, add the buttermilk, melted butter, vanilla essence, and lemon zest (if you're using any of those ingredients). Continue whisking the mixture until it is completely smooth and integrated throughout.

7th Step:

After the pie crust has been created, add the filling to it while making sure it is spread evenly.

8th Step:

After the oven has been warmed, place the pie in the oven and bake for around 45 to 50 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown. You can determine whether or not the pie is done by giving it a little shake; the middle should have some give to it, but the liquid should not be too abundant.

9th Step:

After the pie has finished baking, take it out of the oven and set it on a wire rack to cool. The pie will continue to harden even after it has cooled down.

10th Step:

Once the pie has had enough time to reach room temperature, it may either be refrigerated or served at room temperature. It is particularly delicious when served with a mound of whipped cream or a portion of vanilla ice cream.

Enjoy this delectable Buttermilk Pie with your family and friends. Its creamy, tangy filling and buttery crust make it a delightful dessert for any occasion. Whether it's a holiday feast or a casual get-together, this Southern classic is sure to impress everyone with its simple yet irresistible flavors.
