THE INGREDIENTS LIST:
2 cans.Of refrigerated crescent rolls (8-oz each).
1/2 Lb.Of thinly sliced corned beef.
1 Cup.Of sauerkraut, drained and squeezed dry.
8-oz.Of Swiss cheese, shredded.
1/2 Cup.Of Thousand Island dressing,
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash).
Caraway seeds ( for garnish)
PREPARATION:
1st Step
To bake crescent rolls, heat the oven to the temperature recommended on the box.
2nd Step
Spread the contents of one can of crescent rolls over the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish that has been buttered. A stable foundation may be made by pinching the holes together.
3rd Step
Spread the crescent rolls out in a single layer and top with the corned beef pieces. Completely coating the surface is required. Sauerkraut should be placed on top of the corned meat. To avoid a soggy bake, drain and press dry any sauerkraut that may be overly moist before using.
4th Step
Shred some Swiss cheese and evenly sprinkle it over the sauerkraut. Spread a thin layer of cheese on the baking dish. The taste profile of a Reuben sandwich would be incomplete without this acidic dressing.
5th Step
Spread the cheese evenly over the base, then unroll the second can of crescent rolls and stack them on top. Close the holes in the dough by pinching them shut.
6th Step
Use the beaten egg to lightly glaze the crescent rolls. This will aid in making a crust that is dark and glossy.
7th Step
Optional: after brushing the crescent rolls with egg wash, sprinkle them with caraway seeds. The Reuben would not be complete without the slight earthiness that the caraway seeds provide.
8th Step
Bake until the top is golden and the filling is cooked through, or according to the instructions on the crescent roll container.
9th Step
When the dish is done baking, take it out of the oven and set it aside to cool for a while. Serve while still warm and cut into squares or rectangles as desired.
