HOW TO MAKE OVEN-BAKED CHILI DOGS
Tasty Oven Baked Chili Dogs are ideal for a summer party or a day spent watching a football match. So delicious! This is a wonderful recipe that eliminates the need to use a variety of different pots and pans in order to make a tasty hot dog. Since I like my hot dogs with grilled onions and jalapenos, I decided to cut up some of each, sprinkle them with olive oil and spice, and then place them on top of the hot dogs for the last 8 minutes of cooking time. I placed the hot dog on the bun with three minutes remaining on the timer, then piled on the onions and jalapenos, covered everything with cheese, and cooked it all together. Oh my goodness, was it ever great! Since it is so easy and yields such fantastic results, this is the only way that I will ever prepare hot dogs. Chili with beans and grated Cheddar cheese is piled on hot dogs in buns and cooked till bubbling. Simple and quick!!!
THE INGREDIENTS LIST:
A 15-ounces can.Of chili – heated.
A Pillsbury can.Of refrigerated pizza crust.
Cheddar cheese sticks; I used 4.
All-beef hot dogs; I used 4.
1 Tbsp.Of softened butter.
1/4 Tsp.Of garlic powder.
1/4 Tsp.Of parsley flakes.
PREPARATION:
1st Step
Turn the oven up to 375 degrees. Coat a glass baking dish that is 9 inches square or 11 inches by 7 inches (2 quarts) with cooking spray. Spoon the simmering chili into the dish and smooth it out evenly.
2nd Step
Unroll the dough, and then cut it into four strips. One cheese stick should be split lengthwise, and then one half should be placed on each side of one hot dog.
3rd Step
Wrap a sheet of pizza crust around the cheese and hot dog, gently overlapping the two in the middle.
4th Step
Repeat the process with the remaining strips of dough, cheese sticks, and hot dogs. Put hot dogs that have been wrapped in foil on top of the simmering chili. (The heat level of the chili has to be high.)
5th Step
Bake the dough for 15 to 20 minutes, or until it has a light golden brown color.
6th Step
Meanwhile, melt the butter in a small microwavable cup by heating it on High for about a minute. Mix in with garlic powder, then some chopped parsley.
7th Step
Take the baking dish out of the oven and set it aside. Spread some of the butter mixtures over the top of each cheese dog. Immediately serve after cooking.
